Meet Dr. Jo Moffat

Welcome! I’m Jo, a clinical psychologist originally from the UK. I moved to Kelowna in 2022 with my family. We enjoy the outdoor lifestyle, friendly people and the beautiful seasons of the Okanagan.

My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to each person. I draw from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) to help clients better understand themselves and create meaningful change in their lives.

For me, therapy is a space to gently explore and make sense of the challenges you’re facing. It’s about developing a deeper understanding of your experiences, creating room for emotions and feelings that may have been difficult to express, and discovering new ways to manage and cope. Through this process, therapy can help you build greater self-awareness, resilience, and a more compassionate relationship with yourself.

I look forward to connecting with you to see if I am the right psychologist for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.

What can I expect at the first session?

In our first session (or two), we’ll discuss what has brought you to therapy. I’ll ask questions to gather information about the issues, how they impact your life and what you hope to gain from therapy. I might ask you to complete some questionnaires to help me understand what is going on for you. From there, we’ll make a plan for our work together including the therapeutic approach, roughly how many sessions we’ll need and ideas for how we’ll know if therapy is ‘working’. We will continue to review this plan as we work together to check it still fits and make any changes needed.

How long do sessions last?

Every therapy session is 50 mins long. Psychodiagnostic Assessments may require longer sessions. How long exactly will be discussed at time of booking

What does a psychotherapy session with a psychologist cost?

Sessions are billed at the rate recommended by the British Columbia Psychological Association (BCPA). As of May 15, 2025, BCPA increased the suggested rate to $245 per 50-minute session.

Are your appointments covered under my extended health plan?

As each health plan is different, I would recommend you check with your insurance carrier regarding coverage for registered psychologists.
